Find a quiet place to meditate. Designate a specific room for deep mind meditation. You can meditate in your bedroom or at the garden. Remember, the place must be clean and organized. It must be uncluttered. The environment plays a significant role in meditation.

Schedule your meditation. Choose a time that is perfect for you to meditate. Ideally, practitioners meditate during early mornings and in the evening. These hours are perfect so that you can meditate without anyone bothering you. Make sure you have already prepared everything will use before you meditate.

Learn the proper positions. There are two popular positions that you can try to learn how to meditate properly: sitting position and lying position. If you are a beginner, it is better do the sitting position. Find a sitting position that you are comfortable in since you’ll be in this position for several minutes. If you are not really used to meditating, meditation done in a lying position can make you feel sleepy.

Concentrate on your breathing. This is the focal point of learning how to meditate properly. Inhale through your nose, hold your breath for 5 seconds, and exhale through your mouth. After mastering breathing meditation, you may be able to move to analytic meditation. This is where you will reflect the meaning of a Dharma instruction (teaching of the Buddha). However, it is better to ask a meditation expert’s advice first before taking it up a notch.

Also, make sure you are not too tired or hungry. But do not eat heavy meals before meditating. You can eat light snacks such as fruits. It is important for you to stay at ease when meditating so always wear loose comfortable clothing when learning how to meditate properly.
